Weekly HCMG Newsletter for June 6 HCMG Monthly Meeting for June: The June monthly meeting of HCMG will be Tuesday, June 17 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Smithgall Woodland Garden. We will tour the new facilities at Smithgall, and get an update on the future plans for Smithgall from Oren McBee, greenhouse manager. Members whose last name begins with the letters “S” through “C” please bring desserts or fresh veggies to share. Plant Swap at Penny McGowan’s: Great fun for our 3rd annual plant swap. Wed. June 18th, beginning at 10 a.m. Pot luck lunch; bring folding chair. Bring plants gone wild, plants needing splitting, other gardening goodies or surprises. Penny has lots of extra plants if you don't have some to swap. New Staff at Extension Office: Please welcome the new staff members at the Hall County Extension Office. Becky Rogers is secretary to Billy Skaggs, and Wanda Cannon is the Master Gardener coordinator. Becky comes to the Extension Office from Grace Episcopal Church where she was office assistant for over four years. Looking for new challenges with an emphasis on customer service prompted Becky to apply for the secretary opening for the Hall County Cooperative Extension. This position is a wonderful opportunity and fits her gifts and talents very well. A 14 year resident of Hall County, Becky lives in North Hall with son Paul and daughter Katie. Wanda is a 2006 Hall County Master Gardener. A UGA graduate, Wanda is married with two daughters and a son. Wanda and her family have lived in the Gainesville area for 12 years. She is an active member of the beautification committees at Centennial Elementary and Gainesville Middle School. Thanks, too, to Polly Reins for filling in at the office while selection of these staff members was underway. HCMG Quarterly Newsletter Now Available The latest quarterly newsletter is now available on our website at www.hcmgs.com, under “membership Info”. Thanks to Danny Askew for putting this newsletter together for us. Forsyth County Garden Walk June 21: The Forsyth County Master Gardener Garden Walk will be Saturday, June 21. As agrred to several years ago, we alternate garden walks with Forsyth County each year, and encourage HCMG members to visit this great event. Personal Notices: Personal notices will now be published in newsletter to be sent out by Wanda Cannon from the Extension Office.
