Weekly HCMG Newsletter for June 2

JMG Volunteers Needed
We are making plans to expand the Junior Master Gardener
program this Fall. Four additional schools have requested
the JMG program, plus we need some additional volunteers at
our existing school programs. JMG is proving to be one of
the most exciting programs we are supporting. This is a
great opportunity to work with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in
learning about plants, horticulture , and basic nature
science. We will not implement JMG at a school unless we
have a commitment from at least three volunteers, plus a
teacher, willing to support the program at each school.
A training and program orientation program will be held in
late July for volunteers, and in August for teachers, with
the aim of kicking off the program at each school by late
August. Kathy and Lee Lovett are coordinators of the
program for HCMG.
If able to volunteer, please contact Kathy at
williamllovett@bellsouth.net

Volunteer openings exist as follows:
Myers Elementary School: 1 volunteer needed
Mount Vernon Elementary School: 1 volunteer needed
Wauka Mountain Elementary School: 1 volunteer needed
(New) Oakwood Elementary School: 3 volunteers needed
(New) Centennial Elementary School: 2 volunteers needed
(New) Chicopee Woods Elementary School: 2 volunteers
needed
(New) New Language School (Chestnut Mountain): 3
volunteers needed

The following additional members have already volunteered
but final school assignments have not been made yet: Patsy
Kilmartin, Sandi Cantel, Sandra Hunt, and Kay Herrin. That
means we need at least six more volunteers.

Restore Sale: Saturday, June 7th: (From Patsy Kilmartin)
We know that MGs are always looking for a good deal! The
Habitat for Humanity Restore progressive sale is just the
place. Restore is a "thrift store" for building materials,
appliances, garden items, etc. Although most items are
"gently used" there are some new items as well. The SALE is
Saturday, June 7 from 9am-1pm. It is progressive - there
will be items that are 25% off, 50% off and 75% off. This
is off the already low Restore prices! Restore is located
at 2380 Murphy Blvd. Gainesville. Murphy Blvd. is off
Browns Bridge Road near Moss Robertson Cadillac. Restore is
managed by the Women’s Build of Habitat.
