Weekly HCMG Newsletter for June 2 JMG Volunteers Needed We are making plans to expand the Junior Master Gardener program this Fall. Four additional schools have requested the JMG program, plus we need some additional volunteers at our existing school programs. JMG is proving to be one of the most exciting programs we are supporting. This is a great opportunity to work with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in learning about plants, horticulture , and basic nature science. We will not implement JMG at a school unless we have a commitment from at least three volunteers, plus a teacher, willing to support the program at each school. A training and program orientation program will be held in late July for volunteers, and in August for teachers, with the aim of kicking off the program at each school by late August. Kathy and Lee Lovett are coordinators of the program for HCMG. If able to volunteer, please contact Kathy at williamllovett@bellsouth.net Volunteer openings exist as follows: Myers Elementary School: 1 volunteer needed Mount Vernon Elementary School: 1 volunteer needed Wauka Mountain Elementary School: 1 volunteer needed (New) Oakwood Elementary School: 3 volunteers needed (New) Centennial Elementary School: 2 volunteers needed (New) Chicopee Woods Elementary School: 2 volunteers needed (New) New Language School (Chestnut Mountain): 3 volunteers needed The following additional members have already volunteered but final school assignments have not been made yet: Patsy Kilmartin, Sandi Cantel, Sandra Hunt, and Kay Herrin. That means we need at least six more volunteers. HCMG Monthly Meeting The June monthly meeting of HCMG will be Tuesday, June 17 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Smithgall Woodland Garden.
