Projects Reminder

April 3, 2008

A Reminder about Two Projects:

Senior Center:
Our next work session will be this Sat., April 5th, from
8:30 until approx. noon. Our primary objective will be to
spread leaf compost on the beds and till it into the soil.
In addition, 2 or 3 small shrubs must to be relocated from
within courtyard. Dave Harris has offered to loan us a
large roto-tiller. However, his machine is only suitable
for use on the beds outside the courtyard. 1 or 2 small
Mantis type tillers would make preparing beds in the
courtyard easier. If you are bringing a small tiller, can
loan us one or can borrow one for our use on Saturday,
please contact Hugo.
Other tools to bring include the following:
Wheel barrow (we need 3 or more to carry compost from
the stockpile to the beds), Shovel, Pitch fork, Garden
rake, Leaf rake, Stiff broom, Loppers (for cutting any
roots buried in the beds) Hugo Kollmer

Demo Gardens on Green Street:
Monday, April 7—10:00 a. m. Planting Perennials in the
Demo Gardens at 711 Green Street

Volunteers are asked to bring a shovel and a hand
tool to plant perennials. We’ll picnic together afterwards
as we brainstorm ideas for the development of additional
gardens in the fall. Please bring your own sack lunch.
Drinks will be furnished. Also, please contact the Lovetts
if you plan to be there. Thanks!

( In case of rain, we’ll then plan on Wednesday at the same
time.)
