Weekly HCMG Newsletter for March 3

Master Gardener Day in Georgia:

Saturday, March 15, is Master Gardener Day in Georgia! The
Hall County Board of Commissioners is recognizing this
event by presenting the HCMG team with a proclamation at
the commission meeting on Thursday, March 13, precisely at
5:00 p.m. Last year, about thirty members were present for
this event. All members are encouraged to attend, but
please arrive at the Georgia Mountains Center by 4:50 p.m.
The ceremony lasts only a few moments, and a large turn out
would be appreciated.

March Monthly Meeting

Our next monthly meeting will be Tuesday evening, March
18, at the Chicopee Woods Ag Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Junior Master Gardener Needs:

In recent correspondence with our JMG leaders, we asked if
there were any special needs or requests. Following are
requests from three of the schools. If you are interested
in providing any of these please contact us. Mount Vernon:
annual seeds, especially sunflowers and zinnias. Sardis:
lamb’s ear, a dogwood, a tea olive, firepower Nandina, soil
amendments, and a load of mulch. Wauka Mountain:
Seedling Heat Mat ($30.95 from National Gardening
Association). Also, Sardis will soon begin planting a
garden. If you would like to help with that, please
contact us. Thank you for your support of “growing good
kids” as we help them learn to garden.
Kathy and Lee Lovett, JMG Chairmen
