`Gardening In Georgia´ season begins April 4

By Faith Peppers

College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

Starting April 4, Georgians can tune in to a new season of "Gardening in Georgia with Walter Reeves." The 10th season´s premiere show will include mail-order plants, azalea pruning and patio pond building.

"Gardening in Georgia" airs on Georgia Public Broadcasting stations across the state each Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., and repeats Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Host Walter Reeves, a retired University of Georgia Cooperative Extension agent and gardening expert, will show how to care for the plants you get in the mail, featuring Athens Select heat-tolerant selections.

Then, Hank Bruno of Callaway Gardens will teach Reeves how to prune azaleas after their blooms fade.

Also, find out how easy it is to build a patio pond in a whiskey barrel. Even fish can be happy here.

"Gardening in Georgia" is produced by the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Learn more about the show and download useful publications at the Web site www.gardeningingeorgia.com.
